The band was founded in 2011 by Sergey Wowkotrub - a leader, violin virtuoso, musician originally from Ukraine, who has been a permanent resident of Poland since 1992. Sergey is accompanied on stage by Jacek Serczyk (guitar), Jakub Mietła (accordion), Tomasz Kobiela (guitar) and Piotr Górka (double bass). The musicians' extraordinary sensitivity and temperament are revealed in both ensemble playing and solo parts. The extensive repertoire of the "Sergey Wowkotrub Gypsy Swing Quintet" consists not only of gypsy swing standards, inspired by the works of Django Reinhardt and Stephan Grappelli, but also well-known, perfectly arranged hits of popular and film music. The fresh and original way of presenting music from the world of jazz and entertainment wins the band a wide audience, while the concerts are real musical spectacles with carefully thought-out drama and unusual atmosphere.
